CoComment is now integrated with D5GW.

CoComment

CoComment appears to be a very useful tool for tracking the conversations you’ve had across the Blogosphere and even on the general Internet. I vaguely remember when the service was introduced; it appears to be coming along rather well, although it’s still officially in beta stage.

I’ve already installed the necessary Firefox plugin to use CoComment, myself, (IE users get a bookmarklet to use) and plan to track my own conversations across the Blogosphere. Essentially, when you comment you can signal CoComment to track the conversation in question, notifying you of later responses to comments there. I’ll be putting code into my blog Phatic Communion which will list the lastest n comments I’ve made on other blogs: a kind of “Where’s Curtis Been?” Actually, the service can be used to act almost as blog posts of your comments around the blogosphere (although I’ve not found the ideal way to make them appear as actual posts!)

This is something I’ve wanted for a long time. I’ve often felt that some of my more substantial comments elsewhere get lost in the static, as time passes.

The service is a little twitchy, however. Although I’ve “integrated” D5GW — meaning, the correct info should be picked up by CoComment — any conversations you track here will only display comments made by others who use CoComment — not all commenters/comments to the blog. The folks designing CoComment are working on a way to integrate all commenters and their comments to your CoComment page, however. Also, not every blog you visit will work great with CoComment to track your own conversation “paths”, although many will.

UPDATE 8-6-07:  CoComment has now been dis-integrated.

Hmm…this post shows up on the right hand of the from page under recent posts.

It does not show up if yo just scroll down on the main page though.

PSlog,

For general site news and technical things, I use the tag “Phatic Notice”. These posts are not so much related to 5GW as to the operation of the site; so they appear in the sidebar under Site News, leaving the 5GW-specific posts for the main page.

Is that what you mean?

Er, that’s “Site Notice”. The other tag is for PC!
