Jayson pointed me to Blog Talk Radio which is a sort of a free podcast/call-in-radio hybrid hoster/distributer/archiver.
Is there any interest in this little corner of the blogosphere is a series of 5GW themed call-in podcasts with a blog post for follow-up discussion?
I am thinking I could host episodes each with a different 5GW topics and a different co-host or guest for each episode (the focus would be on the guest or topic, not on me). Episodes could be about thirty to sixty minutes.
What do you think? Any topic suggestions for episodes? I am assuming a five episode series to begin with.

Shlok is thinking along similar lines:

I have thought some more on this.
I don’t really expect anybody to listen to it live on Blog Talk Radio. The key is to use their infrastructure for archived podcasts that be played and linked to by others (along with a text transcript / link appendix that would be googleable)
Lol I think this is a cool idea, no need to wait on Shlok or anyone else if you want to do it. Very cool idea — but perhaps work-intensive? Not only setting up the service, finding interesting/interested parties to interview, and so forth, but also I would expect that keeping it going, rolling, as a regular item would add a new layer of pressure. (Reminds me of the 5GW timeline I started — which I would like to continue to expand someday — but would obviously require lots more time than I ultimately wanted to spend on it at the time.)
Just downloaded/installed Skype btw. Heh. Y’never know…
For myself: I’m extremely squeamish of formalized/formal formats. That means I know that I personally would be the world’s worst person to attempt to create and maintain a somewhat regular style of podcast. Hate being put on the spot (as interviewee) and am prone to immoderation and outbursts (so might sometimes become an aggressive host.) However, I’m much more in favor of the style of conversation the ancient Athenians prized, e.g., the Symposium. Casual, informal, etc.

I would use BlogTalk radio so I wouldn’t have to deal with any infrastructure issues.

I know what you mean. I might just want to try a few with different formats. The schedule would be adhoc - I don’t want anybody waiting for or expecting a weekly episode release.

BTW, can I get set up to post to the timeline also?

I am open to the format. I would most likely check out other shows on blogtalk radio to find inspiration. If I host, I would be asking question and let others make the points.
I was proud I didn’t swear on Covert Radio!

We could try that format. Heck, we could start without a formal topic and just see were the gods lead us.
You already are! The original D5GW crew should have a log-on for the timeline. (Link) As long as you can remember your old name/password, if it’s different than your current info, you should be able to log on.
— another reason I have avoided using voice chat, hah!
