Resilience
A term utilized to describe the ability of a system or organization capable of adapting to, and surviving, events and/or attacks that would otherwise be catastrophic.
Generally speaking, resilience often describes the ability of those systems or groups to maintain a previous identity, organizational structure, and operational capability after such adaptation. However, given the nature of adaptation, this may or may not always be true, in which case identity, organizational structures, and operational capabilities, in part or in whole, may alter in response to catastrophic events but the system or group will still be considered resilient if the resulting system or organization shares a coherent narrative post-catastrophe to that held pre-catastrophe.
